It’s not how high you fly

…it’s how far you go. This past weekend I had Mark out for his first trip of the season. As you would guess it was rough going at first. He got the hang of it again just in time to land a bunch of trout including this 24 inch wild brown trout! More often than not keeping with it equals success than one would think. Just like when I was a kid I was told that quitters never win. This was true again. He landed it European Nymphing with 6x tippet.

Introduction Fly fishing for trout at night takes a special dedication. It requires sleep deprivation, sometimes in massive quantities, especially if there is a large trout at stake. Road Trip to Nowhere

Hello to all three people following! I’m on my way back to Springfield, IL to do a little car swapping for my lady friend. Dropping off the Jetta and picking up the Benzito… not a bad trade. Sadly, I would love to take this time to go on a quick fishing road trip, but the time is just not there. Also, as I discussed before, I think IL must be the worst trout wasteland in the world. I have never seen a place with less places to fish for trout. How lucky are we in the NE. Just thought I would let you all know what’s up, maybe I’ll get some fishing for three eyed fish in Lake Springfield. (Who’s a Simpsons fan?) Cheers, Justin
