Lucky Us

I’m spending the weekend here in beautiful Springfield, IL and I have taken the opportunity to do some research on local trout fishing opportunities.

What I’ve learned this weekend… Thank the good lord I live in the Northeast. I often find myself wishing that I lived in the pacific northwest or even the rockies for their far superior trout fishing rivers, however, being here for a weekend has taught me one thing, be thankful for what you have. This place seems to be almost totally devoid of trout inhabited rivers.
This weekend also allowed me to capture on film some of the worst air pollution I have ever seen, this part of the country is simply riddled with coal burning, CO2 spewing power plants. How lucky I feel to live around so many Nuclear Power Plants now.
The one thing this part of the country has going for it is it’s amazingly kind people. Grounded and solid in there way of life, almost all I have come across have been kind and welcoming, the only sour face I saw was in the IL DMV and who blames them, they might have the worst job ever!
I’ll be back in NJ after a nice 14 hour drive, but I can’t want to get my line back in the water.

  1. Did you ever find a decent place to fish in Springfield?
If so, please let me know I live in Springfield.

    • I didn’t. I fished in the pond behind my GF’s house but there are no trout in the whole state from what I can see. Maybe up by the great lakes but that’s about it.
